Sometimes the thought may even be a burning desire. Yet the first step is not taken because it seems to involve such an intense, immediate commitment to some sort of program. Now, the process for becoming a Roman Catholic Christian is entirely different from previous years. In the RCIA there is a specified time for questioning and getting ones questions answered; a time for meeting people and being met; a time for faith seeking and faith finding; a time to find out if the Catholic faith is really what I want, and a time to hear stories. In the RCIA, this period is called Inquiry. The RCIA will meet every Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m. in the Msgr. McMahon Library beginning September 14th. We presently have 4 inquirers. If you know of someone who might want to become a Catholic, this is where to start. For more information, please call Fr. David at 839-1430, or visit our website www.ctksnyder.com/rcia.htm. is a mosaic with many individual pieces: some large, some small, some highly visible, some
nearly concealed. All are members of the
Body of Christ joined together by Baptism and nourished through the Eucharist. All contribute to Gods glory and reflect the
universal values of the Catholic Church. All
help to reveal Christ to the world calling every person to encounter the Triune God who is
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. JUBILEE 2000: CATHOLIC IDENTITY II Central to the identity of
the Catholic Church and her institutions is respect for the dignity of the human person. Catholics believe that human life is sacred from
conception to natural death and should be valued as a gift from God. This primary value shows forth in the actions of
Catholic institutions and organizations regardless of their mission. Catholic institutions and organizations
acknowledge this fundamental respect for human dignity through attentiveness to five
essential realities of the human person: Spiritual, Communal, Educational, Institutional,
and Service. Catholics are not alone in our
attentiveness to many of these realities, but a truly Catholic organization needs to
respect all of them in some manner. This is
the essence of Catholic identity. YEARLY CLOTHING DRIVE The St. Vincent de Paul Used Clothing Drive will be held on Sat., Sept. 30th & Sun., Oct. 1st. and 6:45-8:00 p.m. AND on Sunday, Sept. 10th, from 8:00 a.m.-1:15 p.m. The Chapel door will be open and an adorer will be
outside the Chapel to answer any questions you may have.
[The Adoration Chapel is located at the top of the stairs, when entering the
Church from the circular driveway on Lamarck Drive. The
doors, which make the Chapel accessible, are unlocked from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 9:00
p.m. daily.] Come to the
Eucharistic Adoration Chapel!!! Jesus waits
for you!!! FAVORS GRANTED THROUGH PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION The Adorers of the Perpetual Adoration wish to thank Jesus for the following favors: 1) Forgiveness in relationship with brother. Thank you Lord! 2)
Shrinkage of a
tumor on a friends liver. ONE REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND 1-hour each week with Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament: Each moment that you spend in His
Eucharistic Presence will INCREASE HIS DIVINE LIFE WITHIN YOU and deepen your personal
relationship and friendship with Him. I have come that you may have life, and have it
more abundantly. I am the Vine
and you are the branches. Whoever remains in
union with Me shall bear much fruit for without Me you can do nothing. (John 10:10; 15:5) A CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE ON POLITICAL RESPONSIBILITY Bringing a respect for
human dignity to practical politics can be a daunting task.
There is such a wide spectrum of issues involving the protection of human
life and the promotion of human dignity. Good
people frequently disagree on which problems to address, which policies to adopt and how
best to apply them. But for citizens and
elected officials alike, the basic principle is simple: We must begin with a commitment never to intentionally
kill, or collude in the killing, of any innocent human life, no matter how broken,
unformed, disabled or desperate that life may seem. In
other words, the choice of certain ways of acting is always and radically incompatible
with the love of God and the dignity of the human person created in His image. Direct abortion is never a morally tolerable option. (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, 1998, n.21). YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE We can make the process of dying easier by
expertly controlling an individuals pain and other physical symptoms, while
fostering open and honest communication with them and their families. This can transform what may have been a
frightening and miserable existence into a time of continuing personal growth and of
completion. (Dr. Michael
Kearney, Mortally Wounded) DO YOU HAVE ROOM IN YOUR HEART? Once
you find the room, the rest is easy. As any
of Catholic Charities foster Moms or Dads.
Right now children are waiting for love, nurture and a safe environment. Every child deserves a family and Catholic
Charities is working hard to help their dream come true.

Father David. HAPPY 18TH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION FATHER JOE SICARI SEPTEMBER 17, 1982 RCIA WHAT IS IT?? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by
which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church.
The process is concerned with the total formation of the person into
believing with the Church community (doctrinal formation), living with the Church
community (practical formation), praying with the Church community (liturgical formation),
and serving with the Church community (Apostolic formation). This gradual development culminates in the
celebration of the initiation sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist at
Easter time.
Anyone interested in learning more about RCIA
process is invited to attend our next session on Thursday evening, September 21st at 7:15 pm in the Church Library we will be discussing
conversion and faith. For further information
