mothers to work at learning and remaining in school. The children are helped by receiving
$20 per month, $10 for books, clothing, etc. for the child and $10 a month used to train
and organize the mothers to do productive work. In order to create a mixed cooperative
among the mothers and other poor women in the community, the different churches and

to become self-sufficient. PAEC will work with 25 children entering First Grade, &
works with them for 3 years to help them and their mothers to work at learning and
remaining in school. The children are helped by receiving $20 per month, $10 for books,
clothing, etc. for the child and $10 a month used to train and organize the mothers to do
productive work. In order to create a mixed cooperative among the mothers and other poor
women in the community, the different churches and agencies elect a Community Animator who

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY
Beginning Monday, Sept. 19th, the Respect Life Ministry will host a 4-part series on Pope
John Paul II's revolutionary Theology of the Body. Former WLOF station manager, and
current proprietor of The Upper Room Catholic Books and Treasures, Michael Denz, will lead
this study and discussion group. Michael holds a master's degree in Theology from
Franciscan University of Steubenville. During this series you will learn about God's
original plan for chastity, marriage, and sexuality. Through the profound union of body
and soul in each of us, our bodies reveal or "make visible" the invisible
reality of our spirits. But the body does even more. Because we are made in God's image,
our bodies also make visible something of God's invisible mystery. It's from this
perspective that Pope John Paul II wants to study the human body, not as a biological
organism, but as a theology, as a "study of God."
This is an introductory course, so if you've never heard of Theology of the Body, this
series is for you. Please join us from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Chapel Meeting Room, located in
the lower church. Please contact Wendy Falvey at 837-0088 with any questions or comments.
This is an exciting opportunity to dialogue about issues that are important to you and
your faith! Come and share with your parish family! We can't wait to see you!
"SCRAP BOOKING" FOR SENIORS begins again on Mon., Sept. 19th. Join other
seniors who meet every Monday from 11:00-1:30 p.m. in the Church Library. You're invited
to come & compile a scrapbook of their most treasured memories & life stories -
putting together a book of special moments in your life that you'd especially like to
remember - childhood moments, vacations, quiet times with family & friends, a wedding,
graduation or the birth of a new baby. Parish Outreach will help you organize your photos,
mementos, & thoughts. You will receive a photo album, a pen, tape for photographs
& sheets to take home. The cost is $10 & you may join at any time. To register, or
for questions, call Keri Mayer at 831-1246.

in next week's bulletin. No need to reregister. Carpools available - call Allison at
839-5225.
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP - When we lose a loved one by death, we are wounded. Just as
a wound does, we need to heal from within, to express our thoughts and feelings, even when
they seem crazy. A support group is a safe haven where we can talk, cry, share our anger,
guilt and fears with those who understand and care. A Bereavement Support Group, sponsored
by CTK Bereavement Committee, has been organized for all persons grieving the death of a
loved one. The next session will be on Tues., Sept. 27th and every other Tuesday through
Nov. 22nd, from 7pm until approximately 9pm, in the Church Library. For more information,
please call Linda Maslona at 839-2363.
BISHOP'S COMMITTEE WOMEN'S DISCUSSION GROUP - All women of the parish are invited to
join the Bishop's Committee Discussion Program. Come and meet other women in our faith
community as we share in small group discussions on interesting topics. Groups meet once a
month from October through May. Day and evening groups are available. If you would like
more information, or would like to join, please contact Mary Voglmayr at 839-2761.
KNITTING FROM THE HEART - The CTK Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Wed. evening from
7-9 pm in the Church Library (which is now air-conditioned!). We knit prayer shawls, which
Msgr. Lichtenthal blesses and are given as gifts to parishioners who are shut-ins, have
serious illnesses, or those who have a need to be wrapped in prayers. Currently over 200
Prayer Shawls have been given. This a great project to work on as you wait for
appointments, travel, while watching television, or any time you have a free moment. Join
us at any time. For details call Linda Maslona at 839-2363. If you can't participate, but
wish to help, we would appreciate donations of 3 complete skeins of one color yarn to be
used to knit a prayer shawl.

POSTCARD CAMPAIGN FOR NYS TAX CREDITS
This fall all the Dioceses of New York State are rallying support for school tax credits.
Tax credit legislation already in progress would: help support families that need a
financial break even in public and charter schools; it would also give excellent results
for lowering the NYS income tax for school teachers and school expenses in a Catholic or
private school. It is far more beneficial than a tax deduction. It has already been tested
in the US Supreme Court and is in vogue in Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania and
Florida.
What we ask you to do is to sign the post cards available in church today. Give them back
to us without a stamp, and we will get them to the proper office. More information is
available on sheets at the Church entrance. Thank you.

from within, to express our thoughts and feelings, even when they seem crazy. A support
group is a safe haven where we can talk, cry, share our anger, guilt and fears with those
who understand and care. For information, please call Linda Maslona at 839-2363.

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY - The next session of the 4-part series on Pope John Paul II's
revolutionary Theology of the Body will be held on Monday, Oct. 3r.from 7:30-9:00 pm in
the Chapel Meeting Room, located in the Lower Church. Michael Denz (owner of The Upper
Room Catholic Books and Treasures store), will lead this study. During this series you
will learn about God's original plan for chastity, marriage, & sexuality. Through the
profound union of body and soul in each of us, our bodies reveal or "make
visible" the invisible reality of our spirits. But the body does even more. Because
we are made in God's image, our bodies also make visible something of God's invisible
mystery. It's from this perspective that Pope John Paul II wants to study the human body,
not as a biological organism, but as a theology, as a "study of God." This is an
introductory course, so if you've never heard of Theology of the Body, this series is for
you. Contact Wendy Falvey at 837-0088 with any questions. This is an exciting opportunity
to dialogue about issues that are important to you and your faith!

It has already been tested
in the US Supreme Court and is in vogue in Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania and
Florida. What we ask you to sign the post cards available in church today, and place them
in the box at the back of Church. Information sheets are available at the Church entrance.
Thank you.
WHAT CAN PARISHIONERS OF CTK DO FOR THE HURRICANE VICTIMS?
The 11:00 a.m. Mass today is being offered for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Many
people are struggling to cope with this growing humanitarian crisis. We are all so limited
in what we can do. Prayers always help. In addition to attending Mass, please consider
visiting with our Lord and offering an hour of devotion in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
There is solidarity in prayer. Our Lord is waiting for prayers to be offered
DONATIONS FOR HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF
Hurricane Relief donations can still be sent to the Rectory. This money will assist
Catholic Charities USA in responding to the needs of millions of people affected by the
devastation and destruction of Hurricane Katrina. Our parish has been very generous. As of
this week, we sent out donations close to $19,000. Please make checks out to Christ the
King Church. Thank you for your continuing generosity.
"You say, 'The Lord's way is not fair!' Hear now, house of Israel: Is it my way
that is unfair, or rather, are not your ways unfair?" - Ezekiel 18
Question of the Week: How can you be "better than fair" to family, friends,
strangers, and enemies?
Faith Response: Let's be more than fair, like the God who shows mercy to sinners like
us. Develop a policy of amnesty for all those who have offended you in the past. Write off
their debt and throw away the paperwork.
CAMPAIGN FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION
The second collection today is for the Campaign for Catholic Education. 100% of the money
collected through today's collection and the direct-mail campaign, will be returned to our
parish. Last year we were fortunate to receive over $9,000. This money will benefit both
our school, which has been rated the #1 Private School in the Business First Magazine for
two years, and our Religious Education Program. Catholic Education is a priceless gift and
a benefit to our parish and the wider community. Please be as generous as you can.
"TRAVELING" STATUES OF JESUS AND MARY
Statues of Jesus and Mary have been made available to CTK parishioners for the past 25
years to display in your home. The statues are reserved in advance &
"travel" from home-to-home for 1-week periods. Families are encouraged to recite
the Rosary during this week. After all Masses Today, someone will be available in the Back
of Church to give you details.
HEALING MASS IN HONOR OF ST. PEREGRINE
A special Healing Mass in honor of St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer, will take
place this Thursday evening, Sept. 29th at 7:00 pm in our Church. Rev. James Judge and the
Friends of St. Peregrine cordially invite you and any parishioners that are afflicted with
cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, who wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick
to attend.
RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
RCIA is a rite of acceptance into the Catholic Faith Community. Adults journey with team
members to hear their stories and learn more about the Catholic faith. The process helps
to prepare candidates for the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism,
Confirmation and First Eucharist. If you or someone you know wishes to enter, investigate
or update your knowledge of the Catholic faith, the RCIA process may be for you. We invite
you to join us on Thursday evenings from 7:15-9:00 pm in the Parish Library. For further
information please call the Rectory at 839-1430 & ask for Renée or visit our website
at www.ctksnyder.com/rcia. Come and join us! Topics for upcoming sessions: Oct. 6 -
Prayer; Oct. 13 - Mary & the Rosary; Oct. 27 - Saints; and Nov. 3 - Scripture,
Tradition & the Bible.
