CTK PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
There are now approximately 30 people who are taking an active part in the CTK Prayer
Shawl Ministry. Since we began in mid-February, 76 shawls have been made, blessed and
delivered. These shawls are given as a gift, they are not for sale. This is why your
donations of yarn have been so important. Many thanks to all the people who have donated
yarn to this ministry. Each shawl has prayers knit into it. When they're finished, we
gather together and have them blessed. We meet every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the
Church Library. Shawls are a great project to work on as you wait for appointments,
travel, while watching television, or any time you have a free moment. For details call
Linda Maslona at 839-2363. Yarn donations may be brought to the Rectory.
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP
When we lose a loved one by death, we are wounded. Just as a wound does, we need to heal
from within, to express our thoughts and feelings, even when they seem crazy. A support
group is a safe haven where we can talk, cry, share our anger, guilt and fears with those
who understand and care. A Bereavement Support Group, sponsored by CTK Bereavement
Committee, has been organized for all persons grieving the death of a loved one. We will
be offering both afternoon and evening sessions. The program will consist of six sessions
beginning Tues., Sept. 14th at 7:00 pm or Wed., Sept. 15th at 1:00 pm every other Tuesday
or Wednesday through November 23rd or November 24th. The program will be held in the
Church Library. For more information, please call Linda Maslona at 839-2363.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
Our main source of revenue comes from the Poor Boxes in the Church. Help us to help our
own needy. Drop a coin in one of the boxes.
R.C.I.A.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations
." Matthew 28:19
WHAT IS IT?
The R.C.I.A. is a rite of acceptance into the Catholic Faith community. In many cultures
the movement from one age to another is marked by a rite of passage. Today there are many
rites of passage, such as advancement at a job, graduation from school, significant
birthdays and anniversaries.
As a faith community we also mark rites of passage. For many the rites of passage have
happened naturally from birth or shortly thereafter, through Baptism. There are many
others who may have had to choose the rites of passage into the Catholic faith for
themselves. You may be the person the Christian Community would like to welcome as newly
baptized or newly received into the Catholic faith.
We all come to a deeper faith through the many ways God wishes to call us. God wants
all of us to come to know him and love him. The many souls that God created each have a
different face, and a different personality. Each person has something to teach us and we
may have something to teach you. What a great gift given us in one another.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Those who are not baptized or those baptized into a different faith denomination, those
who are baptized but have never been brought up in the faith through Religious Education
and have never received First Communion and/or Confirmation, anyone who would like to
become Catholic, anyone who has been away from the Church for a long period of time and
would like to return to the practice of the Faith, or anyone who would like to know more
about the Catholic Faith.
WHAT HAPPENS?
Candidates meet on a weekly basis as a group for instructions, sharing and discussions
with the parish R.C.I.A. team.
WHAT IS IT?
I am not sure. That is the whole point of the R.C.I.A. process. R.C.I.A. allows a person
to investigate the Catholic Faith without the pressure to continue or complete the process
if you feel it is not for you.
If you or someone you know has expressed a desire to know more about the Catholic
Faith, become a Catholic, or return to the practice, please call the rectory at 839-2146.
RENEWAL OF MARRIAGE VOWS

WORLD PRIEST DAY
This year, World Priest Day will be observed on Sunday, Sept. 19th. World Priest Day is a
celebration and affirmation of the priests who commit their lives to the Lord and the
Church through the sacrament of Holy Orders. A reception for our priests will follow the
8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 masses.

the Holy Spirit in our Church today. Men of all ages who would be interested in a Catholic

We will
be meeting in the Church Library, on Tues, Sept. 28th, at 7:00 pm and Wed., Sept. 29th at

guilt and fears with those who understand and care. A Bereavement Support Group, sponsored
by CTK Bereavement Committee, has been organized for all persons grieving the death of a

encourage friendship, & promote fun in a welcoming atmosphere. We invite you to become
an active part of teen life at CTK Church. For info on items listed below, call Mrs.
