RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY
Today, dioceses across the United States will observe Respect Life Sunday. Begun in 1972,
the Respect Life program brings Church teaching on the value and dignity of human life to
the Catholic community and wider public. The program combines education, prayer, service
and advocacy. Respect Life Sunday is observed in virtually all of the 195 Catholic
dioceses in the United States. This year's theme is taken from Luke's Gospel (1:44),
"The infant in my womb leaped for joy." This passage from the visitation story
reflects Elizabeth's joy and amazement on being greeted by her cousin Mary when Elizabeth
and her unborn child John recognize they were in the presence of the unborn Jesus. The
biblical theme contrasts their sense of awe at the unborn child with contemporary
society's view of the human embryo as a mere commodity that can be created, manipulated,
or even destroyed for research purposes. - (from Diocese of Buffalo Web Site
www.BuffaloDiocese.org)
LIFE CHAIN 2007
Join us Today, Sunday, October 7th, and be part of the LIFE CHAIN! Life Chain is a silent,
prayerful, non-violent protest against abortion, which is held every year in locations
throughout the country. It is a powerful witness to many that, though silent, we are
willing to state our beliefs publicly without shame. We stand along Niagara Falls Blvd.
holding signs stating that "Abortion Kills Children" for one hour from 2:00-3:00
pm. Our new location will now be directly across from the Mall on Niagara Falls Blvd.
Please park on side streets (not parking lots) and assemble in front of the now closed
Krispy Kreme location at 1:45 pm. Signs will be distributed from there. Questions, please
call Kathy 839-9223.
PERPETUAL ADORATION
Next weekend, there will be a speaker at every Mass, inviting you to participate in the
Ministry of Perpetual Adoration. We have been blessed at Christ the King Church with a
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel since June, 2000. The Adoration Chapel is located
at the top of the stairs, when entering the Church at the archway between the Church and
the School. These doors are unlocked from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, and
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm on Saturday. Please feel free to make a visit to the Chapel. You do
not need to be a scheduled adorer in order to come and pray. However, don't be afraid to
take a fixed hour.
"You have nothing whatsoever to fear from Him. Get up. He is calling you!" -
Mark 10:50

PERPETUAL ADORATION
We have been blessed at Christ the King Church with a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
Chapel since June, 2000. The Adoration Chapel is located at the top of the stairs, when
entering the Church at the archway between the Church and the School. These doors are
unlocked from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm on
Saturday. Please consider becoming a scheduled adorer in our beautiful Chapel. It is only
by the dedication of volunteers that the Chapel remains open for all parishioners 24/7.
Each hour should have at least two prayer partners so that if one is sick or on vacation
the hour will still be covered. Listed below are the hours where we need adorers. Won't
you join in the unceasing prayer of the parishioners of Christ the King parish? Thank you
for your prayerful consideration.
"You have nothing whatsoever to fear from Him. Get up. He is calling you!" -

PASTORAL COUNSELING
Pastoral Counseling is a specialized extension of the Church's ministry of pastoral care.
It combines counseling skill with a sensitive attention to the religious dimension of
life. I believe that each person is a physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual being.
Personal problems can create excessive stress in daily living in one or more of these
areas. Are you struggling in your marriage? Anxious, stressed, depressed, grieving? Are
you concerned about alcohol, drugs, or sexual problems in yourself or someone you love? If
these or other issues are of concern, you are welcome to call for an appointment. Sliding
fee scale. Call Michele Jackson, OSF at 390-9836.
LEARN RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
Individuals who cope with Chronic Pain, anxiety, panic, heart disease & other health
issues typically share a common frustration - the desire to feel better. Learn to use your
own internal resources to better manage health issues by enrolling in a class offered by
Catholic Charities where you will be taught relaxation and meditative techniques to
cultivate your well being. Call Deborah Asfour at 839-4066 for more information.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,
Hospitality involves giving something of ourselves to others. Our parish is in the process
of expanding our Outreach Ministry. Parish Outreach in the past was primarily involved
with bringing communion to the sick. We will continue to address this need. We want to
expand our Outreach Ministry in order to build a greater sense of community and
hospitality at Christ the King Parish. At this time, we are looking for people who could
make phone calls to welcome new parishioners to some of the events that our parish is
sponsoring. We would also like help with setting up refreshments at these events. This is
a very light commitment and would help us out and be greatly appreciated by our parish
community. If you are interested in helping with this ministry please contact Nancy Burns,
our Outreach Coordinator, at 839-1430 or e-mail Nancy at Outreach@citsnyder.com.
With Christ's Peace,
Renée Villa
Pastoral Associate

VETERAN'S DAY 24-HOUR ADORATION OBSERVANCE
FOR WORLD PEACE AND FOR THOSE IN HARM'S WAY
On Sunday, November 11th, from Midnight-to-Midnight, we will be having a 24-hour vigil in
the Adoration Chapel. Everyone is welcome to take part, including the youth and young
adults. Please sign up for 1 hour of adoration. Sign-up sheets are located throughout the
Church - outside the Adoration Chapel, on the bulletin board in the back of church, and on
the Youth Office door - as well as in the Rectory. May God bless and have mercy on our
troops during these times of strife and uncertainty. May God bless us with World Peace.
Prove you care, keep them in your prayers. If you have questions, please call Maureen
836-0736 or Kathy 839-9223 of the Respect Life Ministry.
DO YOU HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER SERVING OUR
COUNTRY IN THE MILITARY, AT HOME OR OVERSEAS?
The bulletin board in the Vestibule of the Upper Church has been dedicated to honor our
friends and relatives who are in all arms of the military. We will be glad to put up a
photograph of your family member, listing their name, rank, arm of military and assignment
- whether overseas or at home. If you do not have a picture, please send in their name and
information and we will place it on the bulletin board. This display gives a visual
reminder of the brave, dedicated men and women serving our country, and reminds us to keep
them in our personal prayers, as well as our prayers at Mass. This will be an on-going
display, so please continue to send in the names and pictures. Our thanks to the Respect
Life Committee for designing such a compelling display.
