STEWARDSHIP IN FAITH
We will be joining with the other parishes in the Diocese of Buffalo to renew the
Stewardship in Faith Program undertaken a few years ago. Because of your generosity, this
program was remarkable in helping parishes, including ours, to increase the regular
offertory collections. We are renewing this program to help raise awareness of the
importance of continued support of our parish's financial needs. Scripture says
"But who am I, and who are my pepole, that we should contribute so freely? For
everything is from You, and we only give You what we have received from You. O Lord our
God, all this wealth that we have brought together to build You a house in honor of Your
Holy Name comes from You is entirely Yours. (1 Chronicles 29:14-16)
FAVORS GRANTED THROUGH PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
The Adorers of the Perpetual Adoration wish to thank Jesus for the following favors:
1) Thank you for allowing me to make a good confession and to feel God's presence, and for
my much sought-after peace.
2) Thank you for my sister's very successful surgery.
ANOTHER REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND 1-HOUR EACH WEEK WITH JESUS
IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: "Perpetual adoration is in keeping with the serious message
our Lord gave on the last day of the festival when He cried out and said, 'If anyone is
thirsty, let him come to me'" (John 7:37-38)
MEN'S PRAYER GROUP - Defending the Nation: At this time of great sorrow for our nation,
we are asking the men of our parish to unite in prayer. The Men's Prayer Group meets every
Monday evening from 8:15-9:00 p.m. in the Upper Church. The rosary is recited along with
other traditional prayers of the Church. Any man is welcome to attend at any time. Let us
join together in spiritual defense of this land we love.
YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE
"No objective, even though noble in itself, such as foreseeable advantage to science,
to other human beings or to society, can in any way justify experimentation on living
human embryos or fetuses, whether viable or not, either inside or outside the mother's
womb." - Donum Vitae (Instruction on Respect For Human Life in its origin;1987)
DO YOU HAVE ROOM IN YOUR HEART?
Once you find the room, the rest is easy. Ask any of Catholic Charities' foster Mom's or
Dad's. Right now children are waiting for love, nurture and safe environment. Every child
deserves a family and Catholic Charities is working hard to help their dream come true. We
need you, even if it's for a short while. Can you be a foster family? Call Children's
Services at 856-4494 to learn more.
HAS THE THOUGHT OF PRIESTHOOD ENTERED YOUR MIND?
Do people ask you to consider the option or say you would make an excellent priest? Visit
Wadhams Hall Seminary College from Nov. 1-4 for discussion, socials, sports, prayer and an
opportunity to meet some seminarians & see what seminary life is like. To register,
cal the Vocation Office at 847-5535.
CENACLE OF THE MARIAN MOVEMENT OF PRIESTS
Every Wednesday, following the 8:00 a.m. Mass, the Cenacle of the Marian Movements of
Priests (M.M.P.) is held to pray for all priests and for an increase in vocations. It
consists of the rosary, a short message, & the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of
Mary. All are welcome to join in the Cenacle or in reciting the Rosary.
"TRAVELING" STATUES OF JESUS AND MARY - If you & your family would like
to invite the statues of Jesus & Mary into your home for 1 week, please call Martha
Johns at 839-2268 & leave a message. While you have the statues, you are encouraged to
say the Rosary. The statue of Mary is Our Lady of Guadeloupe, the patroness of the
America's, & the patroness of the unborn. These statues have become so popular over
the past few years, that two sets are now available. Consider the benefits of this
ministry.

what He has given us. Scripture says
"In generous spirit pay homage to the Lord,
be not sparing of freewill gifts. With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and
pay your tithes in a spirit of joy. Give to the Most High as He has given to you,
generously, according to your means. For the Lord is One who always repays, and He will
give back to you sevenfold. (Sirach 35:7-10)

I AM YOUR FLAG
I was born on June 14, 1777.
I am more than just cloth shaped into a design.
I am the refuge of the world's oppressed people.
I am the silent sentinel of Freedom.
I am the inspiration for which American patriots
gave their lives and fortunes.
I have led your sons into battle form Valley Forge
to the bloody jungles of Vietnam.
I walk in silence with each of your honored dead, to their resting place.
Beneath the silent white crosses, row upon row.
I have flown through peace and war, strife and prosperity;
and amidst it all, I have been respected.
My red stripes symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this glorious nation.
My white stripes symbolize the burning tears shed by Americans
who lost their sons.
My blue field is indicative of God's heaven under which I fly.
My stars are clustered together, unifying 50 states as one,
for God and country.
"Old Glory" is my nickname, and proudly I wave on high.
Honor me, respect me, defend me with your lives and your fortunes.
Never let my enemies tear me down from my lofty position.
lest I never return.
Keep alight the fires of patriotism, strive earnestly
for the spirit of democracy.
Worship eternal God and keep His commandments.
And I shall remain the bulwark of peace and freedom for all mankind.

MEN'S PRAYER GROUP
The Men's Prayer Group meets every Monday evening from 8:15-9:00 p.m. in the Upper Church.
At this time of great sorrow for our nation, we are asking the men of our parish to unite
in prayer. The rosary is recited along with other traditional prayers of the Church. Any
man is welcome to attend at any time. Let us join together in spiritual defense of this
land we love.
YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE
A part of Erie County for 29 years, Foster Grandparent Volunteers work one-on-one with
children who have special needs - emotional difficulties, a severe handicap, or a learning
disability. The Foster Grandparent Program utilizes a major resource in our society, the
patience and wisdom that comes only with age and experience. The program is sponsored
through Catholic Charities, and is specially designed to help low income senior citizens
(income less that $10,740 per year). Volunteers must be 60 or older, are required to work
20 hours per week, and receive a stipend of $2.55 per hour, which is paid for through the
Corporation of National Service, a Federal Program. The program is continually expanding.
If you are interested in obtaining a Foster Grandparent Volunteer, or if you are
interested in becoming one call Catholic Charities at 856-4494 & ask for the Foster
Grandparent Program.
YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED
In this land of plenty, many don't have enough. Help us transport donated surplus food

driving assignments to fit your own schedule and vehicle size. Call 688-2527 for more
information.

Mary. All are welcome to join in the Cenacle or in reciting the Rosary.

to invite the statues of Jesus & Mary into your home for 1 week, please call Martha
Johns at 839-2268 & leave a message. While you have the statues, you are encouraged to

STEWARDSHIP IN FAITH
Under the direction of Bishop Mansell, we are joining with all the parishes in the Diocese
of Buffalo to renew the Stewardship in Faith Program undertaken a few years ago. Later
this week you will receive a letter from Msgr. Lichtenthal explaining the Stewardship in
Faith program and how our parish will be involved. The program is an opportunity for each
of us to take an active role in the development of our parish. It is a chance for all of
us to be stewards - to give back a portion of the blessings God has given us. Our goal is
to increase our weekly collection to address the financial needs of our parish. Please
keep your hearts open to the message of this program and pray for the success of this
endeavor. We ask you to reflect on these words of Scripture: "We have gifts that
differ according to the favor bestowed on each of us. One's gift may be prophecy

the power of exhortation. The one who gives alms
should do so generously
the one who performs works of mercy should do so
cheerfully." (Romans 12:6-8)
