JOURNEY IN FAITH & GRACE
The Diocese of Buffalo has begun the second phase of the strategic planning process called Journey in Faith & Grace. Page 7 of the November issue of the WNY Catholic has information regarding this process.
Although our diocese has made some modest adjustments over the past 15 years, a more intensive process of restructuring is necessary in order to ensure that parishes and schools will be able to carry on effective ministry in the 21st century. There is a need to restructure in order to have the number of parishes and schools that are truly needed, and that diocesan resources can support.

Here are some poignant statistics for your interest:
Total Parishes and Missions 274
Diocesan Priests 2005 234
Diocesan Priests 2015 142

You may also go onto the diocesan website www.buffalodiocese.org for up-to-the-minute information about the process.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY THANKS YOU!
Hurricane Katrina was devastating to hundreds of thousands in Louisiana and Mississippi. Buffalo is host to more than 30 evacuee families who are beginning new lives here, many with little or no possessions. The St. Vincent de Paul Society of CTK has helped some of these families in need. Your support has already enabled us to provide furniture and clothing to a
New Orleans evacuee and her grandson who are starting over here. Thank you for your generosity.

" We do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

Question of the Week: What is the most important thing you are waiting for?

Faith Response: Don't miss this chance to attain wisdom. Pray for the grace to be truly wise. Learn to be a friend of silence. Seek the company of those who have left behind foolish pursuits that waste time and gain nothing. Prepare for new life with joy.

A RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE - TODAY!!
This Sunday, Nov. 6th, from 8:30-1:30 in the CTK School Gym. Please consider becoming a donor. If you wish to sign-up for an appointment, please call the Rectory (Mon-Fri., 8:30-4:00). Donors must be in good health & 17 years of age this year, with a parent's signed permission form, teen's age 16 may be a donor.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
A limited number of Entertainment Books are still available in the Rectory Office during the week (8:30am-4:00 pm) for $25. The profits from the books will benefit our Teen Youth Group.

AIRPLANES OVERHEAD - ARE THEY HERE TO STAY?
On Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 7:00 pm, there will be a meeting at the Harlem Road Community Center regarding the airport's flight plan, which has currently been flying over our houses. This was supposed to be a temporary situation, while the NFTA was doing work on their runway. We have found out however, that the intent of the NFTA is to continue air traffic flying over Snyder/Williamsville. Come to the Meeting and learn what is going on.

the whole family;

A PRAYER FOR OUR JOURNEY
IN FAITH AND GRACE
God our Father,
We are one Church in praise and in prayer.
Send the Spirit to us,
members of the one Body of Christ.
We ask for vision and courage as we grow
in Faith, in Hope, and in Love.
Thank you for the gifts of yesterday.
Today and tomorrow give us gifts of
unity and peace.
Make us signs to our world
of fidelity to your Word.
With Mary and Joseph we ask this
through Christ our Lord. Amen

THANKSGIVING DAY
The Mass on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24th will be at 9:00 a.m. only. Parishioners attending this mass are asked to bring canned goods to be used at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room. This is their main income for the year, and your monetary contributions are greatly appreciated. A special Thanksgiving Day envelope can be found in your packet of church envelopes. It may be returned on Thanksgiving Day or in the Sunday collection. Your generosity is appreciated.

THE RECTORY IS CLOSED on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Rectory will reopen on Monday, Nov. 28th at 8:30 a.m.

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
To crown the liturgical year we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. We claim Christ as the one and only Lord over all of the universe and all of time. Christ's paschal mystery unites and Christ's Sprit energizes the whole liturgical year and the life of the Church. Through Christ, God's will to gather humanity in unity, love, and peace for all eternity will be fulfilled, "so that God may be all in all" (1Corinthians 15:28). Thus we pray in every Eucharist: "Through Him, with Him, in Him, in the unity of the Holy Sprit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, forever and ever. Amen."
If Christ is King over all nations, He is also Shepherd and Judge over all nations, as our scriptures for today reveal. Since His ultimate goal as shepherd is to gather all people into the kingdom of God, He will judge us on that basis. Did we, as members of Christ's Body, imitate Christ's compassion and thereby shepherd others into the kingdom? Did our actions divide, discriminate, or dishonor, and thus scatter those who might otherwise have found rest, food and healing in the flock of God? If so, it is Christ himself whose Body we have dishonored and divided and scattered when we have not cared for the "least ones" (Matthew 25:45)

Increase your commitment to the first list, and decrease your allegiance to the second.

PARISH HOLIDAY OUTREACH PROJECTS
¢ THE CHRISTMAS TREE in the vestibule of the Upper Church will be serving two of our
holiday parish outreach projects:
The Giving Tree - Gifts (unwrapped) must be retuned by Sunday, Dec. 11th - The Annual CTK Giving Tree will be adorned with ornaments in the Upper Church vestibule on Thanksgiving weekend. You are welcomed to take an ornament and return the item listed on it, unwrapped, to the tree on or before Dec. 11th. Gifts will be delivered to the elderly residents at the Erie County Home in Alden for their Christmas celebration. A new gift option this year is a $5 certificate with which a resident can shop at the Home's store. Money for these can be labeled as such and placed in the collection basket next week or can be purchased after Masses on Dec. 3rd & 4th. The Erie County Home is grateful to our parish for reaching out to their community.
Mitten, Scarf & Hat Tree - Gifts must be returned by Sun., Dec. 18th - As in the past, we will be asking for mittens, gloves, scarves and hats, which will be given to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, Immaculate Conception Church, where according to their Hispanic tradition, they will be distributed as gifts on Little Christmas (Epiphany on Jan. 8th)
¢ CHRISTMAS TOYS - this year the St. Vincent de Paul Society is again collecting toys for
needy children the weekends of Dec. 4thand 11th. Last year, the Society was able to collect and distribute over 1,000 toys for children in the Buffalo area. 17 Churches, most in the inner city, were recipients of the toys for distribution among their families. The toys may be brought to Church - wrapped or unwrapped - and placed in the boxes in the Church vestibule. If you choose to wrap the toy, kindly mark it for boy or girl and the age bracket. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS - We will be decorating our Parish Facilities for the Christmas Holidays beginning on Saturday, Nov. 26th, at 9 am. On that day we will decorate the exterior of the church. This includes the roping around the Main Street and Lamarck Drive entrances, trimming two trees outside the Main Street entrance and hanging the large wreaths. We will gather in the Parish Library. On Dec. 22nd & 23rd at 9:00 am, we will be decorating the interiors of the Upper and Lower churches and the entranceways. We will use the Chapel Meeting Room as our gathering point. The First Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of a journey, a joyful time of anticipation. The season of Advent/Christmas invites the disciples of Jesus to be a joyful people. As the scripture readings are experienced each Sunday, it is very clear that the Christian is urged to rejoice. This special season, the time of the birth of the Christ child, the incarnate Son of God, also contains constant reminders why one should rejoice. Since it is so evident during this season that God loves each and every person, all are urged to hold joy in our hearts, an abiding joy even though there may be difficulties in our lives. Joy is the theme of the angels: "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord" (Luke 2:10-11). Let us all use Advent to prepare for this joyful day!

THE LITTLE BLUE BOOK for Advent and Christmas season is available to help you prepare for Christmas and to give you an opportunity to improve your prayer life. There is a six-minute reflection for each day. The books are in the back of the Church.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

" Jesus said to this disciple: "Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come."

Question of the Week: What are three good reasons to wait in joyful hope this Advent?

Faith Response: "We wait in joyful hope." These are the words we use at Mass to describe the anticipation of the People of God. It is a joyful hope, because what we are waiting for is the arrival of absolute good. Practice joy this Advent season: joy to you, and joy to the world.

FAVORS GRANTED THROUGH PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION:
1) Thank you for watching over my son on his trip;
2) Thank you for my daughter's success on her exam;
