It is not sufficient that they listen to the word of God, nor that they pray in common. It is necessary for them to make Christ's oblation their own, offering up their pains, their difficulties, their trials and, even more, themselves, together with Him and in Him so as to make this gift rise even to the Father, with the gift which Christ makes of Himself." - Pope John Paul II, Fear Not

The Teen Youth Group will be placing this information on the bulletin board in the Church vestibule. Please send the info to the Rectory to "Tribute to the Military". If you have any questions, please call the Rectory.

MAY APPEAL
The May Appeal is the annual fundraiser used at Christ the King Parish to help maintain/improve our Parish properties. As of Tues., May 24th, 524 of our families have pledged $59,322. We would appreciate a minimum contribution of $100 per family, but any contribution within your means will be gratefully accepted. Your continued cooperation and generous response to the needs of the parish helps us realize our goals and plans to improve our Parish community.
This year, we will be replacing the floor in the Chapel Meeting Room, there will be ongoing maintenance to the heating system in the Church and some classrooms in the school need new carpeting. There are also numerous smaller, but still important projects that add to our maintenance budget. We thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed on us, and we ask for your generous and positive response to this appeal.

BUSY HANDS - MANY BLESSINGS … Are you interested in helping others - but find it difficult to commit to a particular time each week? Do you know how to knit, or are you willing to learn? Consider joining the CTK Prayer Shawl Ministry. Since this ministry first started last year, over 200 shawls have been knit, which have been blessed by Msgr. Lichtenthal, and given as gifts to parishioners who have serious illnesses, shut-ins, or those who have a need to be wrapped in prayers. Over 30 women have met and are taking an active part in the CTK Prayer Shawl Ministry. At each of the weekly gatherings (Wednesday from 7-9 pm in the Church Library), a number of women share a gathering prayer, and knit the shawls in a prayerful, relaxed atmosphere. This a great project to work on as you wait for appointments, travel, while watching television, or any time you have a free moment. You are invited to join us at any time. For details call Linda Maslona at 839-2363.
