ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

Last week was Ozanam Sunday in recognition of the Founder of the Society.  “The question which is agitating the world today is a social one.  It is struggle between those who have nothing and those who have too much, it is the violent clash of opulence and poverty, which is shaking the ground under our feet.  Our duty as Christians is to throw ourselves between those two camps, in order to accomplish through charity what justice alone cannot do.” – Frederic Ozanam

JUBILEE 2000 – WITNESSES OF CHRIST

We are called to live the Gospel according to the example and teaching of Jesus Christ, with a life of prayer, love of God and neighbor, forgiving offenses, and of giving oneself willingly for the service of others whoever they may be.  The martyrs are shining examples of this, but every Christian is called to a life of total fidelity and self-dedication.

JUBILEE 2000 – PROCLAIMING THE GOOD NEWS

When people listen to the Gospel freely, they are ready to accept Jesus Christ the Good News of Salvation.  Christians have the duty to share this proclamation.  With due respect for the dignity and freedom of others, but also with faith and joy, the followers of Christ must be ready to share the wonderful gift of knowing Christ Jesus.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

It’s Mother’s Day.  After the brunch and gifts, take time to reflect.  What do you need to add honor to your life, your mother’s life?  Catholic Charities understands busy lives and the needs that rise from rushing around.  Do you need counsel, parenting skills, or home health care for a loved one?  We embrace, enrich and empower people.  Call Catholic Charities at 856-4494 and find out if we can help with what you or your Mom may need.

As of Tuesday, May 9th, CKT parish has contributed $1XXXXXXXXXX.  You may still drop your donation into the collection basket, or return it to the Rectory.

If you own stock or mutual fund shares, please consider them as charitable donations.  This gift will not only assist Appeal 2000, but also provide benefits to your own tax matters.

If you are employed by a firm that “matches gifts” to charitable institutions, secure a form from your personnel office and forward the completed form to the Catholic Charities Appeal Office.   Your contribution is used to bring strength and stability to the community.  Please give generously.

Call our home office at 856-4494, or visit us on the web at www.ccwny.org, for more information.
