Question of the Week: Which impulse purchase is hardest for you to resist, and why?
Faith Response: Don't buy anything you don't really need for one week. Keep your wallet
in your pocket, and watch the bargains go by. At the end of the week, give a little extra
to your favorite charity..

CATHOLIC CHARITIES
TARGET WEEKEND IS COMING
Next weekend, March 24th & 25th is Target Weekend for Catholic Charities. You are
asked to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the amount of
your donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check or cash
and return it in next weeks collection, to the Rectory or in the mail.
Your support of this year's Appeal is vital. Please consider increasing your donation this
year, by pledging a larger amount, and making payments in several installments. A gift of
$100 is less than $2 per week. Try to join the Large Gift donor group by giving a minimum
of $250. This is what helps make our parish go over the top every year. Let us show Fr.
Joe Sicari (Director of Catholic Charities, who assists at CTK) our support.
If you are employed by a firm that "matches gifts" to charitable institutions,
secure a form from your personnel office and forward the completed form to Catholic
Charities Appeal Office. Your contribution is used to bring strength and stability to the
community. Please give generously.
Caring has many faces. One name - One for All. Call 856-4494 or donate online and learn

ANOTHER REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND ONE HOUR WITH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Lent
should be more than time of fasting. It should also be a joyous season of feasting. Lent
is a time to fast from certain things and to feast on others. It is a season to turn to
God in Prayer. Stop into the Chapel and share some time with Him in Prayer.
FAVORS GRANTED THROUGH PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
1) Thank you for walking with me all the times I was running from You.
2) Thank you for the miracle of successful brain surgery.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR LENT????
CTK LENTEN SERVICE PROJECT
Do you feel that you need to "do something" for Lent this year rather than
"give something up"? There is still time to work on one of our Parish wide
Lenten Service Projects. You can
o Prepare an Easter card for a patient at the VA Hospital;
o Offer an hour in the Adoration Chapel for someone you know who needs prayers. Then send
an Adoration Card to them (free)
o Sign-up for Mission VI (March 24-31). Do something spiritual for yourself.
o Participate in the Easter Liturgy as a singer or musician.
o Help serve lunch at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room on a Tuesday or Friday.
o Help decorate the Altar for Easter.
o Knit a prayer Shawl, to be given to someone who is sick or in need of prayers.
Your project should be noted on one of the yellow Lenten Service Project sheets, which are
located
in the vestibule of the Church, near the Library next to our new "Peace Post"
Mailbox. Many thanks to all for your participation!

URGENT == YOUR ACTION NEEDED: On l/31/07, Gov. Spitzer proposed his Executive Budget
for fiscal year 2007-2008. Included in the 'Economic Development' portion of the budget is
the creation of a new public benefit corporation called "The New York State Stem Cell
and Innovation Fund." This corporation would award grants to support research in
"stem cells, other life sciences and emerging technologies" with a particular
focus on human cloning* and embryonic stem cell research. The fund would be governed by a
board, the majority of which, including the chairperson, would be appointed by the
Governor. Absolutely no ethical advice, guidelines or oversight is required under the
plan.
All N.Y. State Senators and Assembly members must vote NO on this proposal. Please contact
your representatives by phone or by e-mail and let them know that you do not wish your tax
dollars used in the manner proposed. Act now as budget negotiations are ongoing and must
be in place by April 1st .
You can find more information on this matter by going to www.nyscatholic.org. Contacts in
the Amherst area: Senate: Mary Lou Rath - local phone 633 0331, email:
rath@sentate.state.ny.us; and Assembly: Jim Hayes - local phone 634 1895, email:
hayesj@assembly.state,ny.us. *Cloning, by any other name, is still cloning! Research in

THIS WEEKEND, March 24th & 25th
TARGET WEEKEND FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES
If you haven't already given, you are asked to look into your heart and give as much as
you can. Please indicate the amount of your donation on the card you received in the mail,
and enclose it with a check or cash and return it in next weeks collection, to the Rectory
or in the mail.
People give to worthy causes and gain a sense of satisfaction. We know there are many
organizations asking you to share your hard earned money with them, but consider one
organization that serves all people with many different needs. One for more than 160,000
people each year. One community of Catholic Charities. One for All.
Call 856-4494 or donate online and learn
more about the help we provide at www.1-for-all.org.
" When someone is upset with a parish or a Diocese and they withhold a donation
from an affiliate organization, be it Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, Ladies of
Charity, for example, it is the people of the community who suffer - your friends,
neighbors, even families - when services are curtailed because people misplace their
feedback. In fact, Catholic charities will be there for our diocese, for our parishes,
pastors and people, as they work through these changes together as the family of God, the
body of Christ that we are. It is during these vulnerable times when support is so
critical
Remember our theme - One for all.
It helps to see we are not alone. We are here for one another.
"Jesus straightened up and said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned
you?' She replied, 'No one, sir.' "
Question of the Week: When have I been offered forgiveness I didn't earn?
Faith Response: Let God surprise you with boundless compassion and unnumbered
forgiveness. Surprise friends, family, even strangers, with the same generosity.
A MESSAGE FROM MSGR. LICHTENTHAL
I would like to Thank All who made arrangements for my 70th Birthday and Retirement
Reception. I am deeply grateful for all your hard work in making last Sunday's celebration
so very special for me. It has been a joy to be among you as your Pastor. I shall pray for
each and everyone who came to celebrate with me and for all in the Parish of Christ the
King.
You will forever be in my heart!
Msgr. Lichtenthal
RETIREMENT ADVICE FOR MONSIGNOR
If you're retired, nobody tells you what to do with your day. Here are some suggestions:
" Make lists of the things that you want to accomplish and tasks toward those goals;
keep these lists in prominent and convenient places.
" Come up with a schedule for your days as though you had a job, setting aside time
for sleeping, writing, reading, answering email, going to the gym, etc. Schedule lots of
lessons and other things in advance so that your days have some structure (Maybe golf
lessons?)
" Important sources of happiness are often those that require some free time to
pursue, such as spending time with friends. Spend more time with other people. Almost
every person feels happier when they're with other people.
" Older people are happier and less subject to depression than young people
" Keep a gratitude journal, once a week, in which you write down three to five things
for which you are current thankful. Practice acts of kindness to make yourself feel
generous and capable
" Laugh more. Move to a place where people around you are happy (The Villages seems
to be a happy place). - Become a sports fan and cheer like an idiot
" Those who have a lot of religious faith tend to be happier and find meaning in
life.
YOU'LL DO FINE MONSIGNOR!!!;
