WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
This is a worldwide ecumenical movement of women and men of many faiths who come together
in prayer. Throughout the day, we collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the

globe. On Friday, March 7th, at 1:00 p.m., Christ the King Church will be participating in
the World Day of Prayer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 4007 Main St., near Eggert Rd. Join
us as we pray with the theme God's Wisdom Provides New Understanding, which was written by
members from Guyana. Guyana's Kaieteur Falls, the highest single-drop waterfall in the
world, was chosen to illustrate God's awesome creation and to symbolize a nation where
there is abundance, yet much need.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES
TARGET WEEKEND IS COMING
Next Weekend, March 8th & 9th, is Target Weekend for Catholic Charities. You are asked
to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the amount of your
donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check, cash, or
pledge and return it in next week's collection to the Rectory or in the mail.
Your support of this year's Appeal is vital. Please consider increasing your donation this
year, by pledging a larger amount, and making payments in several installments. A gift of
$100 is less than $2 per week. Try to join the Large Gift donor group by giving a minimum
of $250. This is what helps make our parish go over the top every year. Let us show Fr.
Joe Sicari (Director of Catholic Charities, who assists at CTK) our support.
If you are employed by a firm that "matches gifts" to charitable institutions,
secure a form from your personnel office and forward the completed form to Catholic
Charities Appeal Office. Your contribution is used to bring strength and stability to the
community. Please give generously. Loneliness. Comfort It. Hunger. Nourish It. Neglect.
Eliminate it. Domestic Violence. End It.
SIGN OF PEACE AND THE FLU SEASON - February is Latin for "fever month." The
flu season is upon us with unseasonal temperature fluctuations. The influenza virus may be
spread when a person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or touches another. Regularly washing hands
is a great precaution. To prevent the careless spread of flu viruses while exchanging the
sign of peace, those experiencing symptoms may consider acknowledging Christ's presence by
means other than a handshake. For example: a simple smile, slight bow, or other
appropriate gesture may be substituted. Especially during this season, consider being
sensitive to those, who refrain from handshaking and choose to recognize Jesus in their
neighbor by other customary means. - US Catholic conference of Bishops: Committee on the
Liturgy Newsletter, November 2006
COMMUNION FROM THE CHALICE AND THE FLU SEASON - Priests, deacons and extraordinary
ministers of Holy Communion are trained to practice good hygiene. Particularly during flu
season, all who distribute the Eucharist should be encouraged to wash their hands before
Mass begins. It is recommended that individuals who feel symptoms refrain receiving the
Precious Blood from the chalice. - US Catholic Conference of Bishops: Committee on the
Liturgy Newsletter, November 2004
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CATHOLIC - Fr. Peter Karalus will discuss what being Catholic means
to hem and how it impacts his life and the lives of people around him on Thursday, March
6th at 7:30 p.m.. during the next session of Come and See in St. Benedict's Church, Main
Str. at Eggert Rd. Discussion topics include: bereavement, divorce and separation,
annulments, life issues problems with the Church, coping with cancer. No cost. No
reservations required. For information, call 834-1041.
AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTER TRAINING COURSE - The CTK Parent's Guild is proud to offer

CATHOLIC CHARITIES TARGET WEEKEND
This Weekend, March 8th & 9th, is Target Weekend for Catholic Charities. You are asked
to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the amount of your
donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check, cash, or
pledge and return it in this week's collection, to the Rectory, or in the mail.
End It.
PARISH OUTREACH
HEALTH CARE PROXY AND ADVANCE HEALTH CARE PLANNING
You have a say in the health care you receive by doing some planning and communicating
now. Advance health care planning permits peace of mind for you and your family by
reducing uncertainty and avoiding confusion and conflict over your care.
Basic Steps
1) Think about what's important to you and how you want to receive your health care.
2) Select a person to speak for you if you are unable to speak for yourself.
3) Talk about your health care wishes.
4) Put your choices in writing.
Complete the following thoughts - there is no right or wrong answer, just your own
perspective.
1) Describe in your own words what makes life meaningful and worth living to you.
2) What aspects of life are most important?
3) Who or what sustains you when you face serious decisions or challenges in your life?
4) How do you want to live your life?
Your answers and ideas may change as time or circumstances vary, discuss these ideas
with someone else - do they understand what is important to you? If you become unable to
speak for yourself or to make health care decisions, New York State law allows you to pick
someone to speak for you and make decisions on your behalf. In addition to having frequent
discussions with those who might be involved in future health care decision -making, put
your wishes in writing and review regularly. If you have questions or need help with
completing a Health Care Proxy contact Nancy Burns at the Rectory, 839-1430 or

To Be Put on the Prayer List: Our policy regarding praying for the sick will be
strictly adhered to. The ill person must want to be on our list and prayed for in Church,
and it can be reported to us only by an immediate family member. We appreciate your
consideration in this matter.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS: Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they
protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our
time of need. And bless us with peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and
Savior. Amen.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES
The Target Week culminates today, Palm Sunday. The goal this year is $11,200,000. As of
Tuesday, March 11, only 60% of the Diocesan goal has been reached, and our parish has
donated $152, 955.
You are asked to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the
amount of your donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check,
cash, or pledge and return it in this week's collection, to the Rectory, or in the mail.

Domestic Violence. End It.
These are problems too big to ignore, but not too big to address. Help Catholic
Charities continue to address them by submitting your pledge today, or donating online at
www.1-for-all.org or calling 856-4494. Thank you for your contribution, allowing Catholic
Charities to continue to be there for those in need.

HOLY LAND OFFERING
On Good Friday, during the 1:00 p.m. Liturgy, a collection will be taken for the shrines
in the Holy Land. The Holy Land is a special home across the sea, where Christ was born,
lived, preached, worked His miracles and died. Today, the Holy Land is in need. Most
Christians who live near and care for the holy places in Jerusalem and Palestine are very
poor or foreign missionaries in a foreign land. For over 800 years, the Franciscan Fathers
have been charged with the care of the Holy Places. Our Good Friday collection supports
their ministry. Please be generous with this special act of almsgiving.
REFLECTIONS ON THE WAY OF THE CROSS
On Good Friday, March 21, the CTK Teen Youth Group will present "Reflections on the
Way of the Cross." It will follow the Stations, which will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.
WILL YOU BE HOME FOR EASTER?
Invite a family member or friend, who doesn't go to Mass regularly, to come to Mass with
you for Easter. It may be just the invitation they need to strengthen their relationship
with God or the Catholic Church.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES
As of Tuesday, March 18th, our parish has collected $197,182 from 698 of our 2,200
families.
You are asked to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the
amount of your donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check,
cash, or pledge and return it in this week's collection, to the Rectory, or in the mail.
If you are employed by a firm, that "matches gifts" to charitable institutions,
secure a form from your personnel office and forward the completed form to Catholic
Charities Appeal Office. Your contribution is used to bring strength and stability to the
community. Please give generously.

HAPPY EASTER
Dear Parishioners,
Greetings in the Risen Lord. How fortunate we are to be a resurrection people; people
immersed in the belief that Jesus has conquered sin and death for us by His death and
glorious Resurrection.
As we gather at this time of year, renewed and refreshed in our faith, we join together
as a parish family to renew our baptismal promises and our fidelity to the Risen Lord and
His Church. May God's blessings remain with all of you as we celebrate together and sing
our "Alleluias" until the Lord shall come again.
On behalf of Fr. Daniel O'Leary, Fr. Joseph Klos, and Deacon Norm Foster, we wish each
of you a Blessed Easter. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness in cards and gifts this Holy
Season.
In Christ the King,
Fr. John Gaglione
Fr. Joe Sicari
PERPETUAL ADORATION CHAPEL
The Adoration Chapel is closed for the Easter Triduum and Easter Sunday. It will reopen on
Monday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. According to Church Law: "Under no circumstances may
perpetual exposition take place during the Easter Triduum."
EASTER DUTY
Part of our Lenten regulations requires us to "perform our Easter Duty," that
is, to receive Holy Communion at least once a year, between Ash Wednesday and Trinity
Sunday, which is May 18th.
EASTER THANK-YOU'S EXTENDED TO
Dan Staszak, our maintenance Supervisor, for all the extra work he has done to help
prepare our churches for the Easter celebration. His preparation began two weeks ago with
the polishing of the brass and copper candlestick holders, and continued through Easter,
helping Fr. John make sure everything was where it should be for the appropriate
celebrations.
Ugo DelSorbo, who works with Dan to help keep the Churches looking their best.
The Altar Decoration Committee, for the beautiful display of flowers in both our
Churches. Thanks especially to Loretta Stachura for her hard work in organizing the flower
order.
Adria Ryan, Director of Music Ministry, the Adult Choir, and the Children's Choir,
who helped make the Lenten Season so special, especially the Holy Week Services.
Our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers Altar Servers, and Ushers for their dedication
to these ministries throughout the year, and whose presence assists our priests during the
Mass.
RCIA AND EASTER SACRAMENTS
RCIA is a process, through which newcomers are welcomed into the Roman Catholic Church,
and others complete their initiation into our faith. We are proud of our candidates who
have now fully entered into the Catholic community. Those of you who attended the Easter
Vigil were fortunate to witness Mark Shoemaker's Baptism, and for Mark, George Grimes,
Rich Leugemous and Tim Taylor as the received the Sacraments of Confirmation and
Eucharist. They will all deepen their understanding of the mysteries of our faith as they
continue to journey through the Easter season in this period called Mystagogia. Please
keep them in your prayers.
WELCOME TO ALL
Easter is about new beginnings. If you haven't been to Church in a while, consider Easter
as an opportunity to return to the regular practice of your faith. Regular attendance at
mass will help you to experience the healing presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
"Perfect love drives out fear
We love because he first loved us." (1 John
4:18-19) If you have any questions or concerns, you are invited to contact Renée Villa,

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THIS YEAR'S EASTER DATE
Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is
March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to
identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.
Easter this year was on Sunday, March 23, but it can actually be one day earlier (March
22), although that is pretty rare. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever
see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it
this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day
earlier! The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220
years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (95 years ago). The next time it
will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last
time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any
earlier than this year. Imagine that!
