outpouring of the Holy Spirit as they became powerful and dynamic proclaimers of their
faith in Jesus Christ. God calls priests and
religious to serve Him and to serve others, especially by the inspiration of the Holy
Spirit in todays Church. If you feel
God may be calling you to this ministry, call Father
Leon Biernat at 847-5535. The summer Music Ministry can include a special presentation at any one of the weekend liturgies and a teen ensemble, a mens ensemble, and family members singing together, are all possibilities. Lichtenthal GIVINGSummertime and the living is easy, but not for all. Your contribution in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Boxes can help relieve the burdens and
distresses of the poor. COMMITMENT PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT Dear loving Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit, thank you for calling me into the fullness of your life, every part of my life. I renew my baptismal and Confirmation vows and commit my life into your hands, pledging with your help, to turn away from all wrongdoing. I humbly ask that you pour out on me a deeper experience and growth of your Holy Spirit, and a fullhearted desire to respond to his faithful promptings of inspired understanding, healing, revelation, and loving service. Thank you, Father, Son and Spirit. I praise you and adore you for being present in me. Amen. THE HOLY SPIRITThe story of the first Christian Pentecost began in fear and ended in joy. Or, more accurately, Pentecost has not ended yet. For today, we live in the time of this powerful Spirit. But on the first day of the rest of the
Churchs life (the birthday of the Church), the disciples crowded together in an
out-of-the-way room, unsure and fearful. It
took an unmistakable manifestation of Gods power to shake off fear and replace it
with bold proclamation. And so it came to
pass. We are told in Acts that the descending
Spirit came as a strong wind like fire fanned in the wind. The flames of fire playfully danced, then quietly
rested over the disciples heads. JUBILEE 2000 Pentecost, A Special Day of PrayerPentecost Sunday 2000 has been designated as a special day to reflect and pray about our relations with people of other religious traditions. Pentecost celebrates the birth of the Church and the call to bear witness to the Gospel among all peoples. It reminds us of the universality of the Church, a sacrament for the nations, a sign and instrument of communion with God and of the unity among humankind. The role of the Church is not confined only to its own members, but extends to the whole of humanity. PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION In the first 4 days of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, over 300 Adorers have chosen to spend time with our Blessed Lord. We encourage all to share in this beautiful adventure in faith. The Chapel is located at the top of the stairs as you enter the doors on the circular driveway on Lamarck Drive. Every time slot has been filled with at least one adorer, however, we could still use more adorers for the following times: One Adorer Is Still Needed For: 1:00 am Friday; 2:00 am Sunday; 3:00 am Tuesday and Thursday; 4:00 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; 12:00 pm (Noon) Sunday; 1:00 pm Sunday; 3:00 pm Saturday & Monday; 4:00 pm Sunday 5:00 pm Saturday 6:00 pm Saturday & Sunday 10:00 pm Saturday If you would be willing to serve as a Substitute, please contact Martha Johns at 839-2268 or Mary Jane Kersten at 839-1575. If you are interested in becoming an adorer, please refer to the phone numbers on the Adoration Schedule posted outside of the Chapel.
DoxologyReverence, or fear of the Lord, is the beginning of Wisdom (Psalm 111:10). Wisdom does not
begin in study and analysis, though both help. The
Church prays and celebrates its belief. The
Church expresses its faith through words of praise, or doxology. SUNDAY READINGS: Today: The Most Holy Trinity 1st Reading - Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40 2nd Reading - Romans 8:14-17 Gospel
