A TRIBUTE TO THOSE IN THE MILITARY
Please take time to check out the bulletin board in the vestibule of the Upper Church. We have many pictures of those who are serving in the military - some are parishioners, and some are loved ones of our parishioners. We are grateful for our freedom to worship God and enjoy lives with many blessings - how meaningful it is to take a break from our summertime activities to offer our thanks.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!!
Later this month, we will be decorating a Giving Tree in the Church vestibule with gift tag ornaments in the Church Vestibule. Each tag offers a gift idea. Patriotic ornaments will benefit those serving in the Military in Iraq. The Christmas ornaments will list gifts for the residents of the Erie Count y Home in Alden. Take a gift tag on July 16th or 17th and tuck your gift under the tree on the weekend of July 23rd or 24th. The Youth Council and the Social Justice Ministry will see that they are delivered. Please take a moment to see the Bulletin Board beside the tree, which honors those in the military. Consider getting into the "Christmas spirit" and help us, help others.

PRE-BAPTISMAL CLASS
The next pre-Baptismal Class will be on Tues, July 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the Msgr. McMahon Church Library. To reserve a space, please call the Rectory at 839-1430. Please enter the Church through the doors on the circular driveway on Lamarck Drive.

SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY - Interested in doing some volunteer work this summer? There are many human service agencies in western New York that depend on volunteers for their programs and services and they are especially eager for help during the summer when vacations reduce the number of people on whom they ordinarily rely. In the back of church, there are handouts, with opportunities for youth and adults, listing a number of local sites, their addresses, and contact numbers. Please take one. Consider giving the gift of your time to those in need...

We ask that all gifts purchased for the Giving Tree in the Church vestibule be returned this weekend. The gifts were for residents of the Erie County Home in Alden and for our Military serving in Iraq. Thank you for participating in our Christmas in July. The Youth Council and the Social Justice Ministry will see that they are delivered. Please take a moment to see the Bulletin Board beside the tree, which honors those in the military

GOING ON VACATION!
Just like we get all kinds of things prepared for the actual trip, spend a little time as a family speaking (praying) to God about the vacation. For example: Help us to be thankful for new things we'll see. Help us to have a lot of patience with one another. Watch over our house and family and friends. (Isaiah 40:31)

I REMEMBER WHEN the family gathered together and prayed before mealtime and Mom would ask that we think of those less fortunate. We ask that you remember those friends less fortunate and perhaps share your extra coins by placing a few in the poor box - St. Vincent de Paul Society
