ARE YOU BEING CALLED? Our second scripture reminds us that when we are weak He makes us
strong. God promises that His grace and the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be poured out
upon anyone who accepts the call to a church vocation. Are you being called to share your
faith as a priest or religious? Are you willing to answer God's call? Call the Vocation
Office at 847-5535.
HOW IS YOUR PRAYER LIFE
. ARE YOU GROWING IN YOUR FAITH? "Without prayer we
will lose the divine life we possess, and more obviously, we shall not grow in the life we
already have. In other words, no prayer, no salvation...we need to pray...because we have
a fallen human nature..."
SPIRITUAL RENEWAL: Do you desire to know Jesus more intimately, come to a deeper
experience of God's love for you? Do you wish to deepen your prayer life or to pray more
personally? You may be interested in a thirty-week retreat experience in everyday life,

RESPECT LIFE UPDATE ON YOUR SPIRITUAL BABY
Your spiritually adopted baby weighs over one pound now and his mother can feel him moving
around, before he was too small for her to feel. He swims with ease in his watery world
but in order for mom to feel him, he needed to be larger and stronger. We are mid-way
through the pregnancy now and your prayers have helped the baby's mother continue with her
pregnancy and also to seek the help she needs.

MAY APPEAL
DOWN $8,000
As you know, our May Appeal is the annual major fund-raising effort we conduct for our
buildings and grounds maintenance. This year, our pledges are $6,000 lower than last year.
As of Tuesday, July 18th, our May Appeal pledges equal $74,355.
We will be addressing heating system maintenance, and various projects in the school this
summer.
If you have not already submitted your pledge card, please do so at your earliest
convenience. We are confident that you will be generous to the needs of the parish.
JOB OPENING AT CTK
Christ the King Church is currently looking to fill a Part-Time Maintenance position. The
job responsibilities consist primarily of housekeeping work in the Church buildings as
well as some landscaping and other seasonal outdoor tasks. This year-round job is perfect
for a college student looking for an alternative to long daytime shifts that conflict with
classes or if you want to avoid working on nights and weekends, then this could be the job
for you. Please contact the Rectory at 839-1430 during normal business hours for more
information.
"His heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a
shepherd." - from Mark 6
Question of the Week: Whom do you lead, and where are you leading them?
Faith Response: Take leadership seriously. Make a list of those whose example you
intend to follow. Include gospel figures, saints, relatives, and modern heroes.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
This weekend, the tree in the Church vestibule is decorated with gift tags requesting
items for the residents in the Erie County Home in Alden. CTK's Social Justice Ministry,
asks us to take a tag and return the item NEXT WEEKEND, and place it under the tree. Last
year our parish was very generous and we were able to help out the residents, many of whom
have no families to care for them.
TASKS FOR PARISH AND SCHOOL RESTRUCTURING
Timeline: March 1 - July 31, 2006 - Cluster Meetings
¢ Large Vicariates should divide into regional planning clusters.
¢ Cluster membership will consist of the pastor and at least two parishioners. If there
is a parish school, or a regional school in the cluster the principal(s) should be invited
to attend.
¢ The cluster representatives will review the ideas and suggestions from the parishes
regarding the reconfiguration of parishes and schools. The cluster group will then engage
in its own discernment process.
¢ The cluster will send a cluster proposal to the Vicariate Council regarding parishes
and school within the cluster.
¢ Cluster participants will keep their parishioners apprised of the work in the cluster.
PARENTING PERSPECTIVE: A 'summer job jar' can be a sanity strategy for bored kids and
tired parents. Write about 50 simple jobs on slips of paper and put in a jar. Each weekday
your child picks one and has to do it before dinner. This not only teaches family teamwork
but builds self-confidence and responsibility

ANOTHER REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND
ONE HOUR WITH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
"If we love the Blessed Sacrament, and if we delight to spend our time in adoration
of this tremendous mystery of love, we cannot help finding out more about the charity of
Christ. We cannot help gaining and intimate and personal knowledge of Jesus Who is hidden
under the sacramental veils." - Thomas Merton
FAVORS GRANTED THROUGH PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
1) Thank you for giving our granddaughter and her husband the gift of pregnancy.
2) Thank you for the much needed emotional support during our catastrophic circumstances.
JOURNEY IN FAITH AND GRACE
The following is a list of criteria that the Diocese will be looking for in parishes:
Prayer and Worship, Spirit of Community Lay Leadership and involvement, Faith Formation,
Pastoral Ministry, Outreach, Collaborative Administration, Financial Stability, and
Buildings and Property. For the next few weeks, we will highlight these criteria:
¢ Prayer and Worship - Liturgies should be quality celebrations: good prayer, homilies,
