A VOCATION VIEW: Jesus created much excitement in His day through His preaching, teaching and healing. Today the Church communicates that same wonder and grace by those active in priesthood, religious life, and lay ministries. If you think God is calling you to discern a call to priesthood, call Father Leon Biernat at 847-5535.

Dear Parishioners,

I have been serving at Christ the King since January 2, 1995. The Diocesan policy calls for a review of my ministry. The review will involve Msgr. Lichtenthal, staff members, myself, some parishioners I have worked with, and the Priest's Personnel Board. This review has the sole purpose of evaluating my strengths, weaknesses and my ministry as a priest.  After this review is completed, the next step will be to meet with the Priest Personnel Board and Bishop Mansell to discuss my future.

Please remember in your prayers all those who will be involved in the process, that we may be open to the Spirit.

In Christ's Peace

Father David

NOTES FROM MUSIC MINISTRY: January & February are cold months, but your participation in singing the songs at weekend liturgies is definitely bringing about a warming trend at CTK! Singing hymns "Antiphonally" is a great way to generate enthusiasm and participation, along with learning less familiar songs.

To sing Antiphonallv creates a musical dialogue between the leader and the people. This was a popular way of singing Chants and songs in the early Church during processions and various festivals. This is still done in the Church today. Join us at rehearsal this month and make new contacts and learn something new! Choir Rehearsal Schedule will continue in February as follows:

PLEASE PRAY FOR: The Sick of the Parish, especially: Sue Barlow, Carol Ann Bradner, Shirley Carocci, Paula Clody-Neumeister, Josephine Federici, Salvatore Ferro, George Grow, Sally Healy, William Knittel, Dorothy Leonard, Dante Maggiotto, Sister Margaret Mary, Russell Messina, Kelley Mitchell, AndreaNiemic, Lynn Paul, Mary Rafferty, Donald Rusciolelli, and Pasquale Scime;

 Those among us who have died, our relatives, parishioners & friends, especially: Roland Ferron and Marie Zahm (wife of Daniel);

IF YOU HAVE AN INTENTION FOR THE PARISH ROSARY CHAIN or if you would like to be added to Rosary Chain, please call Margaret Babich at 839-0335.

 WHEN SOMEONE FROM YOUR FAMILY OR OUR PARISH are hospitalized, please call the Rectory. Most Hospitals no longer notify us when parishioners are admitted.

  VOCATION VIEW: In today's Gospel, people have difficulty believing that Jesus can forgive sins. Through the sacrament of reconciliation we have a powerful sign of God's mercy, understanding. and forgiveness for those who are sorry for the sinfulness of their lives. A priest becomes God's minister to visibly assure those seeking forgiveness that God's mercy is theirs. If you think God is calling you to consider becoming a priest, call Fr. Leon Biernat at 847-5535.

RESPECT LIFE THOUGHTS: Abortion on demand is bad medicine: The abortion doctor doesn't heal. The abortionist kills a baby whose DNA "instructions" direct the development of an unprecedented and irreplaceable human life; a child whose heart was beating 18 days after conception and whose brain activity could be recorded 24 days later; a baby whose unique fingerprints had formed at 7 weeks and who could feel pain by 8 weeks. After the 9th week -and before the woman was even certain she was pregnant - all the baby's human body parts had been formed, the only substantive biological change in the fetus from this point onto a ripe old age would have been those of size.

 THE WORK OF THE ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY is the Gospel message in action. I was hungry, I was thirsty, I was a stranger, I was naked, I was sick, I was in prison. And you cared. There are poor boxes located at the Church doors.

 JUBILEE 2000: We are Catholic. Let it Show. Open Wide the Doors to Christ. May our lives imitate the love of Jesus, in our caring for others, in our respect for all, in our sense of justice, in our reverence for life, and in our commitment to share.

NOTES FROM MUSIC MINISTRY:

The study ofhymns and songs in the Church is reviewed by those who are fascinated with their history. Many societies exist today that research the text, cultural background & musical "worthiness" of a particular hymn. There's a Wildness in God's Mercy is a strong Dutch melody with a steady marching rhythm. Since the melody is repetitious we can learn to sing this tune with confidence & vigor. Sun., Feb. 27 - Open Choir - come and warm up at 10:30 with the Parish Choir and enjoy singing at the 11:00 am liturgy in the Upper Church.
