CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL 2007
As we reach the culmination of Appeal 2007 week, please ensure we reach our goal of $11
million by responding with your contribution or pledge today. Your donation educates,
counsels, and trains parents, and provides child and senior care-giving. Be a face of
caring in the effort to make Western New York strong. As of Tuesday, March 27th, our
parish has donated $158,522. Please consider increasing your donation this year, by
pledging a larger amount, and making payments in several installments. A gift of $100 is
less than $2 per week. Try to join the Large Gift donor group by giving a minimum of $250.
This is what helps make our parish go over the top every year. Let us show Fr. Joe Sicari
(Director of Catholic Charities, who assists at CTK) our support. Your support of this
year's Appeal is vital.
If you haven't already given, you are asked to look into your heart and give as much as
you can. Please indicate the amount of your donation on the card you received in the mail,
and enclose it with a check or cash and return it in next weeks collection, to the Rectory
or in the mail.
People give to worthy causes and gain a sense of satisfaction. We know there are many
organizations asking you to share your hard earned money with them, but consider one
organization that serves all people with many different needs. One for more than 160,000
people each year. One community of Catholic Charities. One for All.
If you are employed by a firm that "matches gifts" to charitable institutions,
secure a form from your personnel office and forward the completed form to Catholic
Charities Appeal Office. Your contribution is used to bring strength and stability to the
community. Please give generously.
Caring has many faces. One name - One for All. Call 856-4494 or donate online; for reasons
to give, log onto www.1-for-all.org.
Remember our theme - One for all.
It helps to see we are not alone. We are here for one another.
EASTER VIGIL MASS - The RCIA team invites everyone to attend the Easter Vigil on
Saturday April 7th, at 8:00 pm to support our RCIA candidates - Rachel Carroll, Diana
Galdon, Cory Herzog and Jeremy Wolford - as they become fully initiated in the Roman
Catholic faith. The Easter Vigil will begin in a darkened Church with the lighting of the
fire and the Pascal Candle. As the procession moves into the church, each person in
attendance will light a candle signifying Christ entering the Church. Scripture readings
will be proclaimed and baptismal vows will be renewed. Rachel will receive Baptism,
Eucharist and Confirmation. Cory and Jeremy will receive Eucharist and Confirmation, and
Diana will be confirmed. Immediately following Mass a reception will be held in the Parish
Library for everyone so that they can congratulate our RCIA neophytes. Please come and
share with us this very special event.
ATTENTION: Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors - Please help us to serve our
community by signing up for Easter Liturgy. Altar Servers especially needed for Holy
Thursday Mass at 7:00 pm (practice at 6:00 pm) and Easter Vigil Mass at 8:00 pm (practice

Father James, from the Consolata Missions, wishes to thank his many friends and supporters

and he was able to build a 3-room solid stone house and supply solar power and a cistern

HAPPY EASTER!!!!
Dear Parishioners,
Greetings in the Risen Lord. How fortunate we are to be a resurrection people; people
immersed in the belief that Jesus has conquered sin and death for us by His death and
glorious Resurrection.
As we gather at this time of year, renewed and refreshed in our faith, we join together
as a parish family to renew our baptismal promises and our fidelity to the Risen Lord and
His Church. May God's blessings remain with all of you as we celebrate together and sing
our "Alleluias" until the Lord shall come again.
On behalf of Fr. Daniel O'Leary, Fr. Joseph Klos, and Deacon Norm Foster, we wish each
of you a Blessed Easter. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness in cards and gifts this Holy
Season.
In Christ our King,
Msgr. James Lichtenthal
Father Joe Sicari
PERPETUAL ADORATION CHAPEL - According to Church Law: "Under no circumstances may
perpetual exposition take place during the Easter Triduum." The Perpetual Adoration
Chapel has been closed for the Triduum and will reopen on Monday, April 9th at 9:00 pm.
EASTER DUTY - Part of our Lenten regulations requires us to "perform our Easter
Duty," that is, to receive Holy Communion at least once a year, between Ash Wednesday
and Trinity Sunday, which is Sunday, June 3rd.
THE LITTLE WHITE BOOKS - The Little White Books with reflections for the Easter Season
are available in the back of the church today. These are used as a continuation of the
Little Black Books. The Easter Season begins on Monday, April 9 and continues through
Pentecost Sunday, May 27.
"They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb
first." - John 20
Question of the Week: Where in your life have you seen new life come from a place of
death?
Faith Response: Mediate on the Christian belief that God brings new life out of the
place of death. Surrender the places of death in your life - a relationship, activity,
habit, or way of thinking - into the hands of God and ask for new life.
EASTER THANK-YOU'S EXTENDED TO
The Altar Decoration Committee for the beautiful display of Easter flowers in both
our Churches. Thanks especially to Loretta Stachura for her hard work in organizing the
flower order.
Dan Staszak, our maintenance Supervisor, for all the extra work he has done to help
prepare our churches for the Easter celebration. His preparation began 3 weeks ago, with
the polishing of the brass and copper candlestick holders, and continued through Easter,
helping Msgr. make sure everything was where it should be for the appropriate
celebrations.
Thanks also to Ugo DelSorbo, who works with Dan to help keep the churches look
their best.
Adria Ryan, Director of Music Ministry, the Parish Choir and the Children's Choir,
who helped make the Lenten Season so special, especially the Holy Week services.
Eileen and Mike Summers for their help in setting up the Repository on Holy
Thursday, and helping to cover the statues throughout the Church for Passion Sunday.
To our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers and Ushers for their
dedication to these ministries throughout the year, and whose presence assists our priests
during the Mass.
RCIA AND THE EASTER SACRAMENTS - RCIA is a process, through which newcomers are
welcomed into the Roman Catholic Church, and others complete their initiation in our
faith. We are proud of our candidates who have now fully entered into our Catholic
community. Those of you who attended the Easter Vigil were fortunate to witness Rachel
Carroll, Diana Galdon, Cory Herzog and Jeremy Wolford being welcomed into the Church. They
have been studying the Catholic faith since September and have grown in their spirituality
as they grew closer to Jesus Christ. Pray for Rachel, Diana, Cory and Jeremy as we
celebrate with them as they are fully initiated into our Church family.
AN EASTER INVITATION - Maybe you came to Mass for Easter Sunday, but you're not really
a regular. Maybe you feel separated from the Church because of divorce, doubts, painful
memories, anger, or other reasons. Maybe something in your soul keeps tugging at you to
come back. Maybe you don't know where to turn with questions or concerns. Maybe you should
stop by St. Benedict's on Thursday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm for Come and See. It's an evening
of prayer and information. Fr. Fabian Maryanski will speak on Why God Allows Pain and
Suffering. You can get answers at the information tables after the talk. No reservations
required.

WE'RE IN OVERTIME
CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL 2007
Thank you for all you have done to help us reach $10,304,330 by Tuesday, April 10. We know
that our goal of $11 million is attainable - your efforts totaled more than that by the
close of Appeal 2006. We are still about 15,000 gifts behind last year's total. These
gifts alone could bring in $700,000.
As of Tuesday, April 9th, our parish has donated $216,346. If you haven't already given,
you are asked to look into your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the
amount of your donation on the card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check
or cash and return it in next weeks collection, to the Rectory or in the mail. Consider
increasing your donation this year, by pledging a larger amount, and making payments in
several installments. A gift of $100 is less than $2 per week. Try to join the Large Gift
donor group by giving a minimum of $250. This is what helps make our parish go over the
top every year. Let us show Fr. Joe Sicari (Director of Catholic Charities, who assists at
CTK) our support. Your support of this year's Appeal is vital.
In order to provide hope, we must have
charity or love. Please open your heart to the senior who struggles to find affordable,
livable housing, the family who depends on a bag of groceries each month from a pantry to
keep food on the table or the teen who needs help with his or her education. Read about
those we have held at www.1-for-all.org. Also, go to our website to donate online or for
reasons to give.
Remember our theme - One for all.
It helps to see we are not alone. We are here for one another.
" The other disciples said to Thomas, 'We have seen the Lord.'" - John 20
Question of the Week: In whom have you encountered the Risen Christ today?
Faith Response: Make pilgrimages to holy places. Sit quietly at the end of the day.
Look into the eyes of someone you care about. Receive the sacraments mindfully. Love the
poor. See Christ.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES' CLIENT CORNER
A Healing Place
"Throughout most of my adult life, I have suffered from depression and anxiety. Four
years ago, my therapist told me about a place that used art therapy for healing called
Creative Edge Arts Studio, a program of Catholic Charities.
"I have been coming to Creative Edge ever since and I call it 'the peak of my week!'
At the end of each session, we share our artwork, which is always met with encouragement
and kind words. I have met some fantastic people and have witnessed some amazing healing.
I am testimony to that. And I owe my sincere thanks to Catholic Charities for being an
integral part of my recovery.
"Without funds that the Catholic Charities Appeal raises year after year, this
program would not exist for me and so many like me. I hope people will find kindness in
their hearts to donate so that programs like Creative Edge, and the many others that
Catholic Charities provides, will stay intact. I never thought I'd need them, and neither
will the next person who knocks on their door." - Deborah Tonner
EASTER DUTY
Part of our Lenten regulations requires us to "perform our Easter Duty," that
is, to receive Holy Communion at least once a year, between Ash Wednesday and Trinity

is, to receive Holy Communion at least once a year, between Ash Wednesday and Trinity
Sunday, which is Sunday, June 3rd.
ANOTHER REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND ONE HOUR WITH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
Prayer is a way of life which allows you to find a stillness in the world where you're
open to God's promises and where you find hope. In prayer, you encounter God in the midst
of the turmoil, distress and joy, and in the loneliness of your own heart.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL 2007
WE'RE IN OVERTIME!
To date, Catholic Charities reports that $425,000 is still needed to reach the $11 million
goal for Appeal 2007. Thank you for helping us get this far. As of Tuesday, April 24th,
our parish has donated $221,651. If you haven't already given, you are asked to look into
your heart and give as much as you can. Please indicate the amount of your donation on the
card you received in the mail, and enclose it with a check or cash and return it in next
weeks collection, to the Rectory or in the mail. Consider increasing your donation this
year, by pledging a larger amount, and making payments in several installments. A gift of
$100 is less than $2 per week. Try to join the Large Gift donor group by giving a minimum
of $250. This is what helps make our parish go over the top every year. Let us show Fr.
Joe Sicari (Director of Catholic Charities, who assists at CTK) our support. Your support
of this year's Appeal is vital.
Read
about those we have held at www.1-for-all.org. Also, go to our website to donate online or
for reasons to give.
One for all. It helps to see we are not alone. We are here for one another.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES' CLIENT CORNER
Parents Once Again- "In July of 2000, my wife and I had to adjust our lifestyle in
order to provide for our two young grandchildren, Joshua and Rihanna. They had endured
serious issues in their short lives from dealing with scars left by their parent's
mistreatment. Now in our mid-sixties, we started to search for a support group that would
help with the transition of becoming parents once again. Our hunt led us to the Catholic
Charities' Kinship Caregiver Program, where we made new friends and found comfort in the
knowledge that others were going through similar issues. Today, Joshua and Rihanna are in
fourth and first grades. With the help of Catholic Charities, we recently adopted the
children and have given them a loving, permanent home.
"Thanks to the annual Catholic Charities Appeal, programs like the Kinship Caregiver
Program are able to exist for the hundreds of people like my wife and I. We are practicing
Catholics, and never did we think we would need to turn to Catholic Charities for
assistance. But looking back, we do not know where else we could have turned. This
organization has been there for our family and will b ether for the next family, but it
needs all of our help. So many of the programs Catholic Charities provides are vital to
our community." - Mike and Rose Falsone
PARISH BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR - Ted Sosnowski, our Business Administrator, will be
retiring at the end of June. A search for his replacement is underway. For details, call
the Rectory at 839-1430.
CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL
The second collection today is for the Catholic Home Missions, which supports the Home
Missions - places in the U.S. where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes
open and to educate children in the faith. Some dioceses are terribly short of priests,
sisters, and the money needed to run parishes. For example, there are only 70 priests in
the whole state of Utah, 57 in Idaho, and 45 in Wyoming. Please give generously to help
your fellow Catholics here in America.
