CTK SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE
"Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
A new ministry at Christ the King aims to preach the Gospel with their actions. The CTK Social Justice Committee will feed the hungry, clothe the naked, mentor, tutor, befriend and assist. If you are seeking a community volunteer opportunity, have ideas to offer, or are simply curious, we'd love you to join us at our opening meeting on Tuesday, July 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel Meeting Room. (Please enter through the single door located under the canopy between the Church and the School). We will meet the 2nd & 4th Tuesday in July and August. All adults (18 and older) are welcome. CAN YOU HELP SOMEONE GET TO WEEKLY MASS?
There are many people in our parish who would like to go to church, but are unable to drive. Outreach would like to be able to help them. If you would be willing to drive a fellow parishioner to church, OR, if you are a Eucharistic Minister, or would like to become one to bring the Eucharist to the homebound and sick, please call Linda Maslona at 839-2363.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The Second Vatican Council recommended that the Church renew its way of receiving Adult Candidates. A revised rite call the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) was approved by Pope Paul VI in 1972 and started at CTK in 1994. RCIA stresses formation in doctrine, liturgy, Church life, and service and involves the larger Church community in welcoming, instructing, helping and praying for Candidates. It is the process by which non-baptized candidates are received into the Catholic Church. Baptized members of other Christian denominations who wish to join the Catholic Church are not baptized again, but are received into the Church through Profession of Faith, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. RCIA is also for baptized Catholics who have not received Confirmation and/or Holy Eucharist. Through the RCIA they can complete the Sacraments of Initiation. RCIA can also serve as a focus for ongoing conversion for all members of the Catholic Church. For information about the RCIA process, call Celeste at 839-2146 or the Rectory at 839-1430, or visit the CTK Web site at www.ctksnyder.com, click organizations, then RCIA.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

Why do we celebrate the 4th of July?
Imagine how you would feel if someone older than you kept telling you what to do all of the time and kept taking more and more of your allowance. That is how the colonists felt in the years leading up to 1776. Great Britain kept trying to make the colonists follow more rules and pay higher taxes. The people no longer wanted Great Britain to tell them what to do, so they decided to tell Great Britain that they were becoming an independent country.
The Congress met in Philadelphia, and a committee was formed to write a formal document that would tell Great Britain that Americans had decided to govern themselves. Thomas Jefferson wrote the document, which became our Declaration of Independence. We declared our independence on July 2, 1776, and officially adopted it on July 4, 1776. That is why we call in "Independence Day".

Popular Patriotic Songs:

*God Bless America
* My Country 'tis of Thee
* Air Force Hymn
* Anchors Aweigh
* The Army Song
* Coast Guard March
* Stars and Stripes Forever

* Washington Post March
* You're a Grand Old Flag
* America the Beautiful
* Liberty Bell March
* Yankee Doodle Boy
* Marine's Hymn

IT MAY BE INDEPENDENCE DAY, but some of us don't feel like celebrating. New "independence" may not be what you want. If your relationship is experiencing difficulty, contact Catholic Charities Marriage Counseling Center at 839-4406. Summer's here.
We're at our ease.
But it's still God's house …
so remember, please …
Respect Our Lord
in demeanor and style.
Let's all bring our best
with a joyful smile.

With the warm weather upon us, we all like to dress casually or as some would say: "dress down." Although we might take going to church as a casual event, our time of formal prayer and worship together should be special. Can we all make sure that when we come to church we do not look like we are going to the beach or sunning ourselves in the backyard?
Please show respect for Christ in the Eucharist, as well as your fellow worshippers. Our dress expresses who and what we are and what we think is important. Scanty summer apparel can be a distraction to others and shows a lack of respect for the dignity of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Nice summer wear can be cool, beautiful, respectful and appropriate. And please, no gum in church.
Also, please help us all remain focused on the Word and the Eucharist, by trying to avoid: Arriving Late, Inattentiveness during Mass, or Leaving early.
Thank you, and God's Blessings for a wonderful Summer for all!!!

ANOTHER REASON FOR WANTING TO SPEND 1 HOUR
WITH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
"Time spent in adoration exposes us to a personal, spiritual, and physical presence of the Lord Jesus. How could we better spend our time than in His presence? Our theology tells us that the Lord lives among us, and in the monstrance, we can gaze at Him in quiet contemplation." - Eucharistic Adoration Newsletter, February 2004

These shawls are given as a gift, they are not for sale. This is why your donations of yarn have been so important. Many thanks to all the people who have donated yarn to this ministry. Each shawl has prayers knit into it. When they're finished, we gather together and have them blessed. We meet every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Library. Shawls are a great project to work on as you wait for appointments, travel, while watching television, or any time you have a free moment. For more information, call Linda Maslona at 839-2363. JUST A FEW WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Please take a moment to relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God, to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes, stories, etc. we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends that pray together, stay together.

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I am blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.

Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have control over.

Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closed in on me, let me remember Jesus' example - to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't share this prayer with others. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households.

I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.

I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.

This is my prayer … in Jesus' name. Amen.

Just repeat this phrase and see how God moves!
Lord, I love you and I need You, come into my heart, please.
